The Circle of Light Church

We, at The Circle of Light Church, believe that your astrological charts contain very private information. We respect that. However, we also want to allow research using a data base of charts. Obviously, these are two conflicting goals. Here is the solution we are implementing.

If you have created a chart you will be able to see the chart identification information. Otherwise this information is stripped from the chart and the chart id number is inserted for the first and last name. The date and time of the chart is unchanged and accessible to all because this information can be easily derived from the chart. At this time we are undecided as to the latitude and longitude information, we could go either way. The same holds true for the place and state information. Again, we could go either way, since this is essentially the same information just in a different coordinate system.

If you decide to join in our research effort we will ask you to supply more personal contact information. We do not share or sell this information. ( How's that for short and direct.) If a researcher is trying to find a correlation between planetary placement and some event they may be allowed to search our database for all charts with the specified criteria. They may then request a confirmation mailing. Church staff will then match the chart id number to the contact information and send a questionnaire. If you choose to answer the questionnaire the information is returned to The Circle of Light Church where the identifying information is again stripped from the reply and replaced with the chart id number.

It is hoped that this solution will allow both privacy and research.

Remember, that this is an endeavor run by humans living in a world of humans. We are not perfect. We will take all reasonable precautions to protect your personal information, but mistakes and leaks are possible. So be warned.

The only time we intentionally share personal information is at your request, whether direct or implied. Obviously, if you order an item from our bookstore, your credit card information must be shared with the authorization agent. If you make a request of one of our astrologers, again personal information may be shared. Hopefully common sense will be used by all parties (see previous paragraph).

We do use contact information for internal purposes such as news letters, questionnaires, and other church business. If you do not wish to receive these mailings you can choose to have them discontinued.

All information, and correspondence sent to The Circle of Light Church shall become the property of The Circle of Light Church unless prior provisions are made.

Charts of famous or pivotal people may be associated with the identifying information if the identifying information was obtained from a source other than a submission to our database.

In short, we are here to show you that true astrology works and to further the study of astrology. We are not going to sell out our friends to some professional harasser for a few coins. Our funds come from direct donations and activity in our bookstore. Help us out if you can.
